Is it a fairy tale for adults, a post-war political allegory, a metaphysical love story, a meditation on what it means to be human, or all of the above?
In our informal and friendly workshop we’ll explore these interpretations (and others) of Wenders’ 1987 film Wings of Desire, a small-budget, largely improvised film which went on to win the Best Director Award at Cannes.
We’ll also look at the film’s very unusual genesis and development to help us better appreciate how Wenders transformed cinematic elements in crafting this compassionately humane film, a film which still invites our time, attention and reflection. Everyone welcome.
