The Perfect Candidate

From Haifaa Al-Mansour (who directed the incredible WADJDA – the first feature film ever made by a female Saudi director) comes a new political drama about a young female Saudi doctor who runs for office in her local city election. Never one to be dragged down though, Al-Mansour approaches the subject with a deft and perhaps surprisingly light touch, highlighting the human joys of her characters even against an oppressive albeit progressing backdrop.
