After dramatic opening scenes we follow doctor Rieke (Wolff) on holiday attempting to fulfil a long-held dream by sailing alone from Gibraltar to Ascension Island in the Atlantic. Her voyage changes completely when she comes across a boat load of stricken migrants and is forced to make life or death decisions. The contrast between her Western European lifestyle and that of the desperate West African migrants could not be more stark. A tense and provocative, gripping drama encompassing themes of racism and empathy, western privilege and moral responsibility.
