Queen & Slim

Melina Matsoukas (2019)

Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith Rated 15 Run time 132 mins
Understandably compared to Thelma and Louise, Queen & Slim is an intoxicating, lawless, lovers-on-the-run romance played out against the politically charged backdrop of a racially divided modern America.
A law-abiding citizen and a criminal defence lawyer, on their first date, are pulled over by a white cop who sees red and pulls his gun, with catastrophic consequences.
A terrifically tactile film and a love story that will linger in the mind long after the film has finished. A very worthy selection to start our 2020-2021 season.
