This political thriller is based on the true story of Gareth Jones a Welsh journalist who in 1933 travels to the Soviet Union to interview Stalin. On an unauthorised side-trip to Ukraine Jones finds out what Stalin is really doing, and he bravely reports on a genocidal famine. Returning home he has trouble getting his story taken seriously against the background of developments in Germany.
A gripping and powerful film with a compelling performance by Norton.
