Jesmark’s luzzu (a traditional fishing boat) has been in his family for generations, handed down to him from his father. But traditional fishing methods are threatened by stricter regulation, and he is also confronted with the realities of supporting his family. A rare Maltese production and a powerful neo-realistic story of modernization in a small community, Luzzu won a Sundance Jury Prize for its non-professional lead actor Jesmark Scicluna, a real-life Maltese fisherman.
