From Paweł Pawlikowski, who’s last film IDA caused somewhat of a stir at Lewes Film Club; comes this charming and beautiful love story of a musical director and a young singer set during the Cold War. Paweł won the Best Director award at Cannes for this film and it’s easy to see why – it features great performances, whilst the story carries itself at a pace and grace that leaves you almost begging to say, they don’t make films like this anymore.

“”Cold War” captivates and transcends barriers of language and culture. It’s a gorgeous tale as rocky as it is romantic.”

“What struck home the most forcefully for me in “Cold War” is its depiction, insidious and unrelenting, of how artists under communism suffered for their art. At its best, the film is like a bulletin from a benighted world.”
